Enthusiastic about mathematics and AI? Dive into the fascinating realm of strategies and decision-making as a Ph.D. student specializing in Game Theory!

Game Theory research group is opening a fully-funded position for motivated individuals who want to get to the bottom of fundamental questions of Game Theory. You will work on an exciting GAČR project focusing on finding efficient iterative algorithms for the approximate solution of large and continuous games. Your daily tasks would be standard scientific work in the field of game theory such as study of existing approaches, proposals for their improvement, implementation of proposed algorithms.

Supervision

You will work under Rostislav Horcik who has worked in mathematical logic and computer science at the Czech Academy of Sciences for 12 years. He collaborated with colleagues from the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences Kyoto, the University of Denver, the University of Siena, and others. Currently, he is interested in game theory and AI planning. In the last few months, he has been involved in an EU project integrating symbolic planning methods with machine learning.

Requirements

  • Interest in mathematics and theoretical computer science
  • Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, optimization, or related fields
  • Prior knowledge of game theory is not necessary

Salary and benefits

For a full-time position, we can offer a studentship of 45 000 CZK monthly brutto and you are entitled to 6 weeks of paid vacation.
