Our popular university course "Introduction to Security" is now opening to the public. Hands-on, engaging and free of charge.

We are thrilled to announce that we are opening our first ever Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The class Introduction to Security has already been taught at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) for 7 years during which it became one of the most popular and well rated classes among Informatics students.

With increasingly common cybersecurity threats our society faces today, the team behind the course decided to bring this staple closer to the public. The intensive 14-week program is designed to immerse participants in the world of cybersecurity and equip them with real-world skills. Registration runs until September 30.

From basic security principles to advanced attacks

Students will dive into the world of penetration testing, learn how to exploit vulnerabilities, execute web attacks and defend against threats in the online world. They will master techniques in system hardening, monitoring, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and even the use of Artificial Intelligence in this field. See the full sylabus.

Sebastian Garcia and Veronica Valeros designed the course to reflect real-world challenges, drawing from their vast research and industry expertise. They regularly speak at Black Hat, one of the most recognized security conferences.

Whether you are looking to boost your career in IT security or are simply passionate about protecting digital spaces, this course is your gateway to becoming a cybersecurity expert.

Passionate and commited teachers

The course is taught by a diverse group of international researchers, security professionals, and alumni, bringing their own vast industry experience into each class. Veronica Valeros, one of the masterminds behind this course, recently received Best Teaching Assistant Award for this very class.

The quality of teachers is praised by our students as well. More than 400 students at CTU have finished this class in the last seven years. "It is easily one of the best subjects I’ve studied at the faculty," one of them commented in the evaluations. "The classes were highly practical, with almost every concept being not only taught but also demonstrated. Ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to replicate the learning experience was a priority," said another former student.
