AIC’s director, Michal Pěchouček, has been awarded the Medal of Karel Kramář by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the field of science and research.

The Medal of Karel Kramář, named after the first Czechoslovak prime minister, is bestowed for outstanding contributions to promoting human rights and freedoms, fostering a free and democratic society, supporting independent journalism, and advancing scientific and cultural development. This year, on the 7th of December, Prime Minister Petr Fiala presented the Medal of Karel Kramář to 14 distinguished individuals, including Prof. Michal Pěchouček, the director of AIC, for his exceptional contributions to science and research.

“I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister for awarding me the Medal of Karel Kramář. This recognition goes beyond my individual efforts, encompassing the collaborative work of numerous colleagues and PhD students who have dedicated themselves to scientific pursuits alongside me over the past 25 years. I accept this award with humility, mindful of the esteemed company I now share with individuals such as Miroslava Němcová, Kamila Bendová, and Daniel Anýž,” said Michal.
