I’m a PhD researcher in robotics navigation, working on SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) systems that combine LiDAR, cameras, and IMUs—especially in environments where LiDAR on its own isn’t enough. My research focuses on sensor fusion and optimization in these challenging, degenerate cases. I have hands-on experience collecting multi-modal datasets (LiDAR, visual, inertial) and setting up SLAM competitions to benchmark algorithms in realistic, messy conditions. I also work with visual odometry, camera and IMU calibration, and techniques to detect and understand scan degeneracies. What I enjoy most is finding structure in what seems chaotic—turning raw, noisy data into something useful and even beautiful.
